Show Related Companies or Locations in One Record
- Open a company record and click the "Add Related Company" button.

- If the related company already exists in your database, use the "Add Existing Company" search, select the company, then click Save. To add a new company and relate it to the company your are in, click the "Create Company" button.

- Verify you have chosen the correct company/location, then click "Confirm".

- The related companies (locations) will be visible and you can toggle between them to view their Contacts, Notes, Trades, Groups, Bids & Files, Projects, etc.
The "Edit" link to the right of the related companies/labels allows you to do four things:
(1) Assign a Headquarters
(2) Change the Display Name of each location
(3) Add additional companies to the "set"
(4) Remove a company from the "set"
- Upon clicking the "Edit" link above, use the "Headquarters" pull-down if you would like to designate a Headquarters.

The Headquarters location will always show first on the list, with a "building" icon in front.
- If you wish to customize the labels of each location, edit the Display Name and click Save.

- To remove a company from the set of related companies, click "Remove". (This will not delete the company from your database, it will only remove the company from the set of related companies).

- Explanation of the difference between the Related Companies and Merge Companies features:
Related Companies allows you to show companies with separate locations in one record, each with their own separate list of Contacts, Notes, Trades, Groups, Bids & Files, Projects, and Form Responses. Related companies can easily be added or removed from the "set".
Merge Companies allows you to combine multiple company records into one record, usually to eliminate duplicate records of the same location. NOTE! Once company records are merged, they cannot be reverted back to separate records. - Frequently Asked Questions:
A) If one company is invited to a project, will all the related companies be invited?
No. Each "location" is a separate record. This allows you to selectively invite the location closest to the project.
B) Can a contact be listed in more than one related company?
Yes.
C) Can I merge a company with a company that is already in a "Set" of related companies?
Yes. When using the Merge Companies feature, all of the companies in a "Set" will show so that you can select which to merge. WARNING... Since a Merge cannot be undone, be careful to only merge companies with the same location (ie. duplicate company records).
D) Can I use the Related Companies feature for a reason other than flagging different company locations?
Yes! You can customize the Display Names (labels) to use however you like.
E) When a company that has been related to other companies accesses a project in my Planroom portal, will they be able to see the projects from their related companies?
No. They will only see the project(s) that their Company Record (location) has been invited to.
F) I related a company and the Display Name only shows a comma. Why is that, and how can I change it?
By default, the Display Name is City comma State. If the City and State is blank in their record, you will only see a comma. Click "Edit" to the right of the Display Names, edit the Display Name and Save.
